Pencil Scarf by puffyslippers
The Pencil Scarf was inspired by the pocketbook slippers, of all things. When I was knitting the slippers the shape reminded me of a pencil. And so, the Pencil Scarf was born. Directions below.
Supplies
Size 8 needles
yellow, black, beige, gray, and pink yarn
Cast on 5 stitches of black yarn
Knit 4 rows of garter stitch
Increase one stitch at the beginning of each row until there are 7 stitches
Switch to Beige
Knit across
Increase one stitch at the beginning of each row until there are 14 stitches
Knit 2 rows of garter stitch
This next row, knit the front and back of each stitch to get 28 stitches
Switch to Yellow
K2,P2 Ribbing to end until the ribbing length measures 4′ 3″
Switch to Gray
Tog 2 all the way across so you have 14 stitches
Knit garter stitch until gray section measures 3″
Switch to Pink
Knit garter stitch until pink measures 1 1/2″
Tog2, knit to the last two stitches of the row, Tog2
Tog2, knit to the last two stitches of the row, Tog2
Tog2, knit to the last two stitches of the row, Tog2
Bind off
Weave all loose ends into scarf
*This scarf was designed for a child, but it seems to fit an adult just fine. The best way to adjust the length of the scarf is to make the yellow part shorter or longer.
